Showing your club members, visitors and supporters that you care about sustainable practices can also benefit your business bank account.

By installing Electric Vehicle (EV) charging systems on your premises you not only help them get from A to B without the dreaded range anxiety, but it can also benefit the club financially. Charging them just a fraction of the price of a tank of fuel can boost your bottom line.

Not only that but by having EV charge points you can increase custom and dwell time. Visitors that are waiting for their vehicle to charge will likely visit the clubhouse and stay for a cup of coffee or have a bite to eat, where they might not have in the past.

Across the country, the shift to electric cars is accelerating, and being ahead of the curve can be a benefit to you and your employees. It can be a smart investment in future proofing your business and help you to stand out amongst your competitors.

Your club can also benefit from the Workplace Charging Scheme. A government incentive that covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV charge-points easing the initial financial input. But the scheme is only active until the end of March this year.

Pair EV charging with no cost Solar energy

We have recently started rolling out our no cost Solar for Sport programme. Our partners HDM energy install solar panels at your club for no upfront cost and you pay a lower rate for the energy produced. This lower rate is locked in for the entirety of your contract and all the maintenance is handled for you. There are no hidden costs or price hikes lurking in the small print.

EV charging points can be installed by HDM alongside the solar panels at no extra cost. Both of which could boost your club’s property value and improve your sustainability rating. Based on 1 hour of charge per day at 60p/kwh commercial rate – the average income generated would be £132 per charger, per month – meaning £1,500 per annum. HDM are offering 2 EV charges as standard so that could be a total of £3,000 annually.

It can seem like a big project, but we are here to guide you through the process, from enquiry to installation, so you know how it all works and have a timeline of implementation.

Real savings, for real clubs

Bridlington Town AFC, home to the seasiders who play football in the Northern Premier league (7th tier of English football) signed a long-term solar power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 400-panel solar array installation.

Key Benefits for Bridlington Town

  • 40,000 kilowatt-hours (kwh) saved: Significant reduction in energy usage
  • Fixed low energy rates for 12 years: The PPA guarantees protection from rising energy costs.
  • EV charging stations are being installed at no additional cost: Further supporting the club’s commitment to sustainability.
