This marks an important step as the business continues to scale, backed by a clear set of values: transparency, fairness, and a genuine focus on long-term value for customers.
Michael Fitzpatrick joins Troo with a strong track record of building and leading commercial teams in high-growth environments. His appointment comes at a time when the business is expanding its consultancy offering, and investing in technology and talent to serve more customers across the UK.
“I am excited to join Troo at this pivotal moment” said Michael. “It’s a business that leads with honesty, puts the customer first, and doesn’t hide behind jargon or fine print. I’m here to help take that to the next level, while making sure the values that got us here stay at the heart of what we do.”
The investment from NEL is designed to help the business grow without compromising what matters. That includes continued development of its people-first customer service model, and further investment into AI, automation, and data to enhance clarity and decision-making for clients.
“This funding helps us grow with purpose,” said Andrew Richardson, CEO at Troo. “That means investing in practical AI and our team, improving how we use data, and continuing to offer businesses clear, honest advice at a time when they need it most.”
This all comes after a big year for accolades. As well as being featured in this year’s The Wired x HSBC’s trailblazer list, last year, the business was named Fastest Growing Small Business at the North East Fastest 50 Awards. It’s a sign that the approach is working, and that customers are looking for something different when it comes to managing their energy.
“We’ve grown because we’ve listened,” Andrew adds. “Our customers shape how we work. This next phase is about doubling down on that, listening more, supporting better, and offering real value.”
As part of this next chapter, Troo has launched a new website and redefined its place in the market. No longer positioned as an energy broker, the business now operates as a full energy consultancy, offering support across energy procurement, energy efficiency, renewables and energy compliance.
The goal is to bring more transparency and clarity to a sector that has too often felt closed off and confusing. Troo is pushing back against the traditional broker model by giving businesses direct access to a team of real people who take time to understand their needs and build solutions that genuinely fit.
“This rebrand reflects the shift already underway inside the business,” said CEO Andrew Richardson.
“We’re focused on being the most transparent, reliable, and value-led partner a business can have when it comes to energy. That means putting people first, always being upfront, and offering support that goes far beyond just getting a quote.”
