Business energy benchmarking specialist, troo, has launched a new, innovative technology platform which allows businesses to instantly compare the energy market and see what a good price looks like, free of charge, without any obligations. Its customers who previously used an energy broker have saved up to 30% on their annual energy bills with troo.

Troo has launched its pricing tool – troocost.com – a disruptive addition to the business energy market in that it allows businesses to easily self-serve and make intelligent decisions on their energy tariff without the need to sign up with contact details. It instantly generates reliable and fair annual energy prices using unique energy meter references.

Businesses can use the free portal to compare their current business energy bills or check they have a fair price from their broker. They can easily select suppliers based on price, or on their own preference such as green or clean, as troo works with numerous energy suppliers across the world.

Prices are immediately generated, with suppliers’ costs simply listed in order of rate. To use the troo tool, all businesses require is a few simple details from their energy bill.

Founder and CEO Andrew Richardson said “This is a completely new addition to the market, offering a quick and easy solution. There is no hidden cost or commission in the prices, no obligation to sign up or select our prices. Businesses can self-serve as a ready reckoner and price-checking service. We are putting the power back in their hands.”

Those businesses who don’t use an energy broker tend to rollover and automatically renew on much higher energy tariffs. Other businesses try to do it themselves which can take days deciphering the best deal, as the market is overly complex with a variety of rates and meter types.

Andrew added: “Our troo tool can save money, time and hassle. Despite a recent OFGEM probe into the market and brokers, it remains unregulated and it’s scary how much some businesses are being overcharged. Research has shown that UK firms are paying up to £500m too much for their energy every year. We want to change that.”

Notes to editors

Businesses are paying too much for energy services every day. With the way things are, brokers hide their commission fees in unit rates, so businesses can end up paying far more than you need to. That’s £500m lost a year from UK businesses alone.
Troo has created a better, fairer system that works for businesses. To save them money and make life easier.
